Introduction to My Home

If you are new here, welcome! I am very glad that you have taken the time to stop in and get to know me!

Before we start on this adventure together, I wanted you to get a sense of our house. My husband and I purchased a fixer upper house, (you can read more about that here), and have been remodeling it, one room, (or a couple of rooms) at a time.

Below I have compiled a collage of before pictures. These pictures were taken before we spent any time remodeling our new home.

I know you might be thinking, “Why do I care about a bunch of old house pictures?”

And you are probably right. They aren’t very glamorous. A lot of our space still looks like this, though we have begun to slowly transform our home. I am not on the other side of this remodeling battle (because, believe me, at times it feels like a war zone).

But what I do have is experience and understanding. I have lived through one complete house flip and am well into my second one. (Sometimes I think I am a little crazy!)

I have learned how to be organized when my house is in constant upheaval. (Add to the remodeling disaster four children and you have a recipe for constant clutter) I know what it takes to fight through the mess of a remodel and still find inspiration. I have battled through my own struggles of finding the time to create when chaos reigns supreme.

Tough Love

Life isn’t perfect. I totally get that. There are days that just making it through and keeping the kids in one piece is a victory. There are times that remodeling a home and keeping things organized feels like an impossibility. And you know what? That’s ok. The important thing is to not stay in that moment.

What you do need is grace to not be too hard on yourself when you don’t meet YOUR standards (because, your standards are usually a lot tougher than anyone else would dish out).

You need encouragement to not give up when you are feeling discouraged and you need inspiration to keep your creativity going.

My hope is that you will find all three as you join me on this journey.

I have so much to share with you and my deepest desire is to inspire and motivate you to create a house that speaks to you and your unique personality….. a house that you love.

So, my goal in showing you these pictures is to assure you that you are not alone. I want to encourage you to go for your dreams…. Don’t give up!

I look forward to getting to know you!
