Master Bathroom: ORC Week 3

A lot of tiling and priming the walls has happened during the master bathroom ORC week 3 progress. Check out the latest in our remodeling adventure.

Second verse almost the same as the first.

We are on our 3rd week of the One Room Challenge. (If you want to check out our Master Bathroom Design Plans, you can read this post.)

(Also, if you don’t know what the One Room challenge is, it’s a creative outlet for designers and bloggers to show their progress as they attempt to complete a room redesign or remodel in 5 weeks. On the 6th week they reveal their awesome final designs and room remodels. If you want to check out all of the other rooms in the challenge, you can go to the ORC blog and be inspired by all of the remodeling genius taking place.)

Tales of Tiling

Did I mention before that we are tiling EVERYTHING?

Ok. Maybe it is just the shower, floor, and back splash on both sinks that we are tiling, but man, it is A LOT of work!!!

We are making progress, however (even if it doesn’t feel like it).

My husband has almost finished the shower walls, which is taking a long time because of the custom bullnose my husband is creating. (You can read more about that in the Master Bathroom ORC week 2 post.)

Cutting every edge tile at a 45 degree angle has definitely added to the tiling work on the shower.

However, it is turning out AMAZING!

Priming the Walls

Our moisture resistant drywall is purple. We definitely needed a good primer to coat over that. Plus drywall tends to suck in the paint.

Priming master bathroom walls

Primarily, the primary first coat of paint applied to a wall should always be primer. Ha! Say that ten times fast.

Yes, I came up with that while priming the walls in the bathroom, and yes, I had waaaay too much time to think.

But, the bathroom is primed and ready for paint, so that is all that matters, right?

I might be ready for paint too. I think I got more paint on my hands than the walls. Ha ha!

Master Bathroom ORC Week 3 Recap

So, to recap what we have accomplished this week. The bathroom shower walls are almost completely tiled. The master bathroom is primed and ready for paint.

Our goals for next week:

  1. Paint the master bathroom walls and ceiling.
  2. Finish tiling the master shower.
  3. Possibly install lighting.

I hope you tune in next week to see the further progress on our Master Bathroom remodel.
